Apparel is a different buyer from the rest of this site and we have written it that way. What it shares with the machinery work is the method: we settle the specification before anything is ordered, tell you the real minimum rather than the advertised one, and quote one landed figure in Naira.
What you cannot import, and what we will not quote
This category has the strictest prohibition list of anything on this site. Read it before you pay a deposit anywhere, with us or with anybody else.
- Used clothing is absolutely prohibited. Second-hand garments, the bale trade, mitumba by any name, cannot legally be imported into Nigeria. It is on the Customs absolute prohibition list. People still try, and the goods are seizable. We do not source it and we will not quote for it.
- Footwear, bags and suitcases are prohibited. This surprises people, because every sourcing agent’s catalogue shows them. The list carries limited exceptions, principally safety shoes, sports shoes, canvas shoes and completely knocked down blanks and parts. Outside those, we do not offer them.
- Carpets and other textile floor coverings are prohibited, including rugs.
- New garments are not prohibited, which is the whole of what this page covers. Everything in the grid below is new manufacture, bought from factories and stockists rather than from the used trade.
- Form M and PAAR still apply. A Form M is opened through your bank before shipment on imports above about USD 1,000, and the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report is filed through NICIS II before the goods arrive. Duty is assessed on Customs valuation rather than on your invoice.
The prohibition list is revised from time to time and we check it against your specific goods before quoting rather than repeating what was true last year. If you want to import something on that list, the honest answer is that we cannot help you do it, and we would rather say so in the first conversation than after you have committed money.

Specification, real minimum and what decides the choice on each. We do not publish prices, because the landed figure depends on fabric, quantity, Customs valuation and the exchange rate on the day you pay.
