Casual Backpacks in Bulk

A backpack sells in Nigeria on what it carries and how long the zip lasts, not on how it looks in a photo. Students and commuters buy it to hold a laptop and books through a daily walk in the sun and the rain, and that use decides which orders repeat.

Description

These are casual, leisure and laptop backpacks for everyday carry, campus use and daily commuting, in an unbranded, generic range built for bulk buyers rather than a single shop counter. The range runs from plain single-colour daypacks through padded laptop backpacks to styles with an anti-theft back panel or a built-in USB charging port, and the same basic construction runs across all of them, so a mixed order still arrives with a consistent standard of finish.

Most of the range is built on polyester or canvas-look fabric over a foam-backed panel, which is what gives a backpack its shape and its resistance to a wet season without a rain cover. The stitching at the strap joints and the base is the part that fails first under daily loading, and it is also the part a photograph cannot show you, which is why it has to be specified and checked on a sample rather than assumed from the catalogue image.

Two groups buy this style in volume. Retailers and market traders take the bright, patterned and novelty finishes, which sell on sight and need no further work. Corporate and institutional buyers, schools, banks and companies running a promotional or staff-welfare order, take the plain solid colours, because a plain body branded with a printed or embroidered logo reads as a company bag and a patterned one does not.

Specification

These are the points that decide what actually arrives in the container. Every one of them is confirmed against the specific supplier and against an approved sample before we quote.

Style Single or double-compartment casual backpack with a padded back panel and adjustable shoulder straps, in daypack, laptop, commuter and anti-theft configurations.
Fabric Polyester in 300D to 900D denier, canvas-look cotton-polyester blends, or a nylon-look ripstop. Denier is the thread thickness, and it is the single number that decides whether a bag survives a school term or splits at the base within weeks.
Zips Nylon coil or moulded-tooth zips, self-colour or contrast. A stiff or shallow-toothed zip is the leading cause of returns on a backpack order, because a buyer judges the whole bag on whether the main compartment opens smoothly in the shop.
Laptop protection A padded sleeve rated to 14 or 15.6 inches is standard on the laptop-labelled styles in this range. Confirm the sleeve is a separate padded compartment and not simply a flat pocket, since the two are often photographed the same way.
Water resistance Coated fabric and taped or bound seams resist a Lagos downpour for a short walk. None of this range is fully waterproof, and selling it as such against a soaked laptop is where a shop earns a refund claim it cannot recover.
Security features Concealed rear-panel zips, lockable zip pullers and a hidden back pocket appear on the anti-theft styles. These add a small cost per piece and are worth it only on styles sold specifically as anti-theft, since the feature is invisible in a market-stall display.
Extra features External USB charging port with an internal cable channel, on selected laptop styles. The port itself carries no power bank, and a buyer expecting one to be included is a common source of complaint on a first order.
Hardware Plastic or metal buckles and sliders, reinforced stitching at strap-to-body joints. This joint is the first point of failure under daily loading, and it is worth asking the supplier to double-stitch or bar-tack it as standard rather than as an upgrade.
Colour range Solid colours including grey, black, navy, brown, cream, pink, red, mint, teal and bronze, plus limited two-tone combinations. Solid bodies take a printed or embroidered logo; anything with an all-over pattern generally does not.
Minimum order 1,000 pieces across the whole order, not per style or colour. Styles, colours and sizes are mixed freely within that figure.
Packing Individually polybagged or bulk packed, with the style and colour assortment set per carton. This decides how much sorting you do before the first piece can be sold.

We do not publish prices, because the landed figure depends on the specification, the Customs valuation and the exchange rate on the day you pay.

Minimum order

1,000 pieces across the whole order. Not 1,000 of each style or colour. Styles, colours and sizes are mixed freely within that 1,000, so a first order can carry six or seven different backpacks instead of tying you to one.

That is worth checking against any other quotation you hold. Minimums in this trade are usually counted per style, which is where buyers lose money: seven styles on a per-style minimum of 1,000 is a 7,000-piece commitment and seven times the cash tied up before you know which one sells. Ask every supplier whether their figure is per style, per colour or per size, and get the answer in writing.

Custom branding, custom colours and non-standard hardware each tend to carry their own minimum on top. A first order is nearly always better placed on stock colours and stock hardware, with branding held back until a style has proved itself.

What decides the right one

Fabric denier against how the bag is actually used comes first. A 300D bag looks identical to a 600D bag in a photograph and in a shop for the first month. The difference shows up at the base seam under a full load of books or files, which is exactly where a returned bag costs you the sale and the customer.

Then zip quality against return rate. A backpack lives or dies in the buyer's hand on whether the main compartment opens in one smooth pull. A stiff or shallow-toothed zip is the single most common reason a shopper puts a bag back down, and it is also the cheapest part of the specification to get right if you ask for it upfront.

Then pattern against purpose, which the mixable minimum lets you actually test. Solid colours take a logo and sell to corporate and institutional buyers; patterned and novelty finishes sell themselves on a market stall and take no branding at all. A thousand pieces split across both tells you which market you actually have, before you commit further stock to either one.

Then the sample, which is the one part of this worth being slow about. Approve a physical piece before bulk production starts, load it and carry it for a few days, and keep it in your office. It settles every argument afterwards, and without one you have no position at all when the stitching or the fabric does not match the conversation.

Common questions

What is the minimum order for backpacks?

1,000 pieces across the whole order, not 1,000 of each style or colour. You can mix daypacks, laptop bags and anti-theft styles within that 1,000, so a first order can test several designs at once rather than committing you to a single one.

Can I mix styles and colours within the minimum?

Yes. The 1,000 pieces is counted across the order, so you choose the style and colour split inside it. Tell us the breakdown you want and we build it into the quotation.

What denier fabric should I ask for?

600D polyester is a reasonable working standard for daily student and commuter use. Below that, expect a shorter working life under a full load of books; above it, the bag gets heavier and the price rises. Without a denier figure on the order, you will be sent whichever cloth matches the photograph, which is not always the same cloth twice.

Are the backpacks waterproof?

No. Coated fabric and taped seams resist a short downpour, not standing water. If your buyers will carry laptops through the rainy season, say so on the order and ask what the supplier can actually confirm about seam sealing, rather than trusting the word 'waterproof' on a listing.

Can the bags carry my company logo?

Yes, by screen print, heat transfer or embroidery on a factory order. Order solid colours for this. A logo across a patterned or two-tone body reads poorly, so patterned styles are best left unbranded.

Are prices shown in the catalogue?

No. The catalogue is images only. What a backpack costs you depends on quantity, specification and the exchange rate on the day, so we quote per order with every line itemised.

Tell us the styles and the quantity

Send the reference numbers from the catalogue, or just describe what you want. Tell us the style and colour split you have in mind across the thousand, whether you need laptop protection or anti-theft features, and whether the bags need your own branding. We will come back with the specification to insist on and what it lands at in Naira with every line itemised.

There is no charge for it and it commits you to nothing. If the quantity you have in mind sits below the minimum, we will say so and suggest the version that works.
