A ladder frame double cab producing 430 N.m from its 2.5 litre turbo diesel, with BorgWarner four wheel drive, low range gearing and an optional rear differential lock. 210 mm of ground clearance and a 1.34 cubic metre bed. One unit is a normal order.
Description
There is a domestic version of this truck sold inside China with a 2.0 litre diesel making 350 N.m. This is not that truck, and the difference is worth understanding before you compare quotes.
The export All New Vigus runs a 2.5 litre turbo diesel, the NB25, producing 123 kW and 430 N.m while returning 7.0 litres per 100 km. That torque figure is what moves a loaded truck up a gradient with a trailer behind it, and 430 N.m is a genuinely strong number in this class. There is a 2.0 litre turbo petrol alternative making 160 kW and 350 N.m for buyers who run light and want the lower purchase price.
The transfer case is a BorgWarner unit with low range gearing and an optional rear differential lock. Low range is the part most buyers skip and later wish they had not. It is what gets a laden truck out of wet laterite rather than digging it in.
Gearboxes are a six speed manual built by Magna, or an eight speed automatic from Dong'an with an electronic shifter.
Ground clearance is 210 mm. The cargo bed measures 1,545 by 1,595 by 545 mm for 1.34 cubic metres, comes with a protective liner as standard, and sits at a 750 mm loading height, which matters every single time somebody lifts something into it by hand.
Safety is a full set rather than a token one: ABS, EBD, ESP stability control, hill launch assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring, a reverse camera, parking sensors and dual airbags, on a high strength steel body. Inside there is a 12.8 inch touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.
Overall dimensions are 5,335 by 1,882 by 1,834 mm on a ladder frame.
Specify low range now, not later
Both are decided at order. The BorgWarner transfer case offers low range gearing, and the rear differential lock is an option rather than standard. Neither can be added afterwards.
Specify them if the truck ever leaves tarmac. If it reaches sites in the wet season, or works on sand, or ever pulls anything out of anywhere, specify them. The cost at order is a fraction of what one recovery costs, and a truck that cannot get itself out is a truck that is not working.
Diesel against petrol. The diesel makes 430 N.m and uses 7.0 litres per 100 km. The petrol makes more peak power, 80 N.m less torque, and it is cheaper to buy. For a working truck the diesel is the answer almost every time.
Confirm the drive side before you pay anything. JMC builds this truck in right hand drive for other markets. Nigeria registers left hand drive. A right hand drive unit at a good price is not a bargain, it is a vehicle that cannot be registered.
As a new unit, the twelve year age limit does not apply to it.

We do not publish prices, because the landed figure depends on the specification, the Customs valuation and the exchange rate on the day you pay.
Minimum order
One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single truck is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.
Where you are buying several, consolidating into one shipment reduces the cost per unit. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the units in it. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice.
A pickup takes more volume than a saloon, so the container maths works differently. We quote a single unit both by container and by roll on roll off so you can compare, and we tell you at what quantity consolidation starts to win.
Lead time. About six to eight weeks quay to quay on the Lagos route, plus one to two weeks for export preparation at origin and a further period for clearing and the drive out of the port. Build to order configurations add time at the factory end. Lead time depends on availability, shipping schedule and clearing rather than on manufacture, so we give you a range and keep you informed rather than a fixed date we cannot control.
What decides the right one
The load and the ground, in that order. What the truck carries decides diesel or petrol; where it goes decides whether you need low range and the differential lock. Both are order-time decisions that cannot be undone.
Then the gearbox. The Magna six speed manual costs less to buy and less to repair. The eight speed automatic is easier on an employee driver and holds its condition better in unskilled hands.
Then loading height, which nobody asks about and everybody notices. 750 mm is low for this class, and on a truck loaded by hand several times a day that is worth more than most of the specification sheet.
And before any of it, which range the truck comes from. Export or domestic decides whether parts exist for it in year three.
If a pickup is not what the job needs, say what the job is. We also source flatbeds, box bodies, tippers and the rest, and we would rather point you at the right vehicle than sell you a convenient one.
Common questions
What is the minimum order?
One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single truck is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.
Does ordering more than one reduce the cost?
Yes, on freight and clearing. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the units. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice. A pickup this size takes more volume than a saloon, so we quote both container and roll on roll off and show you which wins at your quantity.
How does this compare with the cheaper Vigus I have been quoted?
Check the engine. The China domestic truck runs a 2.0 litre diesel making 350 N.m. The export truck runs a 2.5 making 430 N.m, with a BorgWarner transfer case and an export parts channel behind it. Send us the exact quote and we will tell you which one it is.
Diesel or petrol?
Diesel if the truck works. 430 N.m and 7.0 litres per 100 km is the combination you want under load. Petrol only where the vehicle runs light and the lower purchase price matters more than running cost.
Do I need the rear differential lock?
If the truck leaves tarmac in the wet season, yes. It is an option, it is decided at order, and it cannot be retrofitted sensibly.
How does it compare with a used Hilux?
That is the comparison most buyers are actually making. A new unit clears at a lower duty rate than a used one, carries a warranty and has no age limit problem. Tell us the used vehicle you are weighing it against and we will put the two landed costs side by side.
