A 1.5 litre turbocharged saloon making 147 PS and 210 N.m, returning 6.4 litres per 100 km, with Bosch stability control and a 360 degree camera as standard. Chery builds this one for export, which is the part that matters most. One unit is a normal order.
Description
There is a cheaper Chery saloon than this one. We are not offering it, and the reason is worth explaining because it applies to every Chinese vehicle you will be quoted on.
Chery sells one range inside China and a different range for export. The domestic-only cars are cheaper at the factory gate and they have no international parts channel, no export warranty and no homologation behind them. When something needs replacing in three years, you are on your own. The Arrizo 6 is on Chery's international line, which means parts, warranty and documentation follow the vehicle out of the country.
On to the car. The engine is a 1.5 litre turbo producing 147 PS and 210 N.m, with a thermal efficiency of 37.1 percent, and it returns 6.4 litres per 100 km. That last figure is the same as the naturally aspirated domestic car manages with 120 PS, which tells you what the turbo and the newer combustion design are doing.
It drives through a 9-speed CVT rated to 280 N.m with a transmission efficiency of 92.5 percent and a manual shift mode. The chassis was tuned by Benteler in Germany.
Safety is where the gap opens up. Bosch ESP 9.3 is standard, integrating traction control, ABS, EBD and hill-start assist in one system. There is a 360 degree around-view monitor running four 180 degree wide-angle cameras, which on a Lagos street does more for the car's survival than any amount of power.
Inside, an 8-inch climate touchscreen interlinked with the central display, and a 7-inch multifunction LCD instrument cluster.
The body is 4,710 mm long on a 2,670 mm wheelbase. It is a full-size saloon, not a compact wearing a badge.
Why we do not quote the cheaper domestic model
Two ranges, one badge. Chery sells one range inside China and a different range for export. They share badges and they do not share support.
The saving is real, and so is what it costs you. A domestic-only car is cheaper at the factory gate. What comes with it is no international parts channel, no export warranty and no homologation paperwork. Three years in, when a sensor or a gearbox component needs replacing, there is no supported route to that part.
It removes the reason you were buying new. Your own reason for buying Chinese new rather than Japanese used is usually the warranty and the service network behind it. A domestic-market car takes exactly that away.
Ask which range you are being quoted. When someone quotes you a Chinese vehicle at a price that looks too good, that is the first question. We will answer it on any vehicle, including ones we are not selling you.
This unit is left hand drive, which is what Nigeria registers, and it is new, so the twelve year age limit does not come into it.

We do not publish prices, because the landed figure depends on the specification, the Customs valuation and the exchange rate on the day you pay.
Minimum order
One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single vehicle is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.
Where you are buying several, consolidating into one shipment reduces the cost per unit. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the vehicles in it. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice.
For a fleet order this is where the numbers move most, because saloons of this size pack efficiently. We will tell you at what quantity it starts to matter for your route.
Lead time. About six to eight weeks quay to quay on the Lagos route, plus one to two weeks for export preparation at origin and a further period for clearing and the drive out of the port. Lead time depends on availability, shipping schedule and clearing rather than on manufacture, so we give you a range and keep you informed rather than a fixed date we cannot control.
What decides the right one
Which range the car comes from, before anything else. Export or domestic decides whether you can get parts in year three, and no amount of specification makes up for getting that wrong.
Then fuel consumption, because on a working vehicle it dwarfs every other running cost over three years. 6.4 litres per 100 km from a 147 PS turbo is the reason this car exists.
Then the safety specification. Stability control and a 360 camera are standard here rather than optional, and on a car that will be driven by someone other than the owner that difference shows up eventually.
If the requirement is something else entirely, the process does not change. Send the model, a photograph or a link, and we trace the unit, check which range it belongs to, hold the specification up against the sales talk, and come back with a delivered Naira price with every line itemised.
Common questions
What is the minimum order?
One unit. Vehicles carry no minimum order quantity, so a single vehicle is a normal order and we handle it the same way as a fleet purchase.
Does ordering more than one reduce the cost?
Yes, on freight and clearing. A forty foot container ships at a flat rate whatever is inside it, and that rate divides across the vehicles in it. Freight also forms part of the CIF value duty is calculated on, so the saving reaches the duty bill as well as the shipping invoice. For saloons this size, two fit comfortably and three fit with proper bracing.
How is this different from the cheaper Chery saloon I have been quoted?
Probably that the cheaper one is a China domestic model. It is a real car and it is cheaper, and it has no international parts channel or export warranty behind it. Send us the exact model and we will tell you which range it belongs to before you pay anything.
Is a turbocharged engine harder to maintain here?
It needs correct oil and correct service intervals, which any competent workshop can manage. In exchange you get 147 PS and 210 N.m at the same 6.4 litres per 100 km a naturally aspirated engine needs for 120 PS.
Is this suitable for ride hailing?
Yes, and the stability control and 360 camera are worth more on a commercially driven car than on a private one. Budget for the fuel saving to compound over three years rather than judging it on purchase price alone.
How long does it take?
Roughly six to eight weeks on the water to Lagos, plus one to two weeks for export preparation at origin and clearing at this end.

Send us the model, or a photograph, or a link. Tracing a specific vehicle, checking which range it comes from and telling you what it costs delivered in Naira is the service. This one is an example of it.
